Paris, the last leg in the AW15 fashion diary and one of the most important. This last week the city of chic played host to some of the most influential FROW go’ers and of course the unforgettable return of Derek Zoolander and Hansel at Valentino – blue steel is back.
LAYER UP
A multitude of layers make this trend winter appropriate. Use clever layering of pieces, texture and colour to give a look your own unique stamp.
THE WAISTCOAT
The mini-size waistcoat is here; another indicator of the 70’s era we are seeing right now. Wear over chiffon blouses and dresses to bring this trend into AW15.
DUNGAREES
Spotted! Dungarees in soft leather and 70’s corduroy. Will you be wearing this trend come autumn?
CHECKED OUT
Tartans, gingham and checks are a regular in the winter season – and this season is no different. Channel the Queen of tartan, Vivienne Westwood, and go big on checks.
THE ROLL-NECK
The biggest story for next season? The roll neck. The funnel neck. The polo neck. The turtle neck. This old classic has just become the new must-have monopolising the catwalks.
LONGLINE
Tops are layered long over loose trousers and maxi skirts. Lengthen your body-line and experiment with your proportions.
PASTELS
Not a usual for the colder months, pastels take a wintery turn on the catwalk. Shades of sugary pink, mint green and duck egg blue will be a big hit in the next season.
ANKLE SWINGER
The culotte has been replaced by the ankle grazer trouser. Cropped is the length of choice even in the colder months.
GLOVES
An off-beat addition to the catwalks for AW15.
VICTORIANA
This trend takes its inspiration from the Victorian era. With high neck ruffles and leg of mutton sleeves, the look is both prim and modern.
CAPED CRUSADER
The smart girls cover up of choice. Ultra wearable, capes, cloaks and ponchos were a unanimous favourite on the catwalk; from dark tailoring at Saint Laurent to the flowing hooded knitted cape at Vivienne Westwood this is one trend you should buy into.
FRINGING
Fashion has a fringe moment. Tasseled hemlines, trims and boots danced down the catwalk – it’s playful and flirty. Time to get your swing on.
70’S REVISITED
The 70’s have been making a reappearance and are now looking stronger than ever. Bring out your inner hippy and look out for boho chic, loose silhouettes, suede, roll necks, 70’s prints and square sunglasses.
SCARF
The scarf – always a winter staple and yet we’ve never seen it so stylish. The chunky knitted scarf is cosy and oversize for AW15.
COLD SHOULDER
Fashions go off-shoulder so bare some sexy skin and work the drop shoulder trend.
PRINT MEDLEY
More is most definitely more when it comes to print this AW15. Throw together patchwork fabrics, checks and clashing prints for effortless glamour.
TEXTURE
Clash your textures – in fact, the more texture the better! Fashion gets fluffy, fuzzy and feathery on the catwalk.
FURRY BUSINESS
Teddy bear chic. Fur is no longer restricted to outerwear. We saw fur trims, hems, arms and bags – anything goes when it comes to fur for AW15.
COLOURED FUR
Inject some colour into your winter wardrobe with a pop of faux fur. Oversize, longer length and stripes get the thumbs up from the fashion pack.
THIGH RISE
Provocative, fun and flirty, the thigh high slit gives a sexy glimpse of leg. Dresses and skirts showed off slits and splits – I guess the only question, how high will you dare?
GET KNOTTED
Feminine neck ties – the answer to lady-like elegance. So button-up and tie yourself in bows for autumn.
BLOOMS
Florals are not just for summer as winter blossoms with distinctive and colourful motifs and embellishment.
TULLE
Girly, tiered and frothy, tulle makes a big entrance for next season. Do like Saint Laurent and pair with a tweed blazer for princess come punk.
