Join The Fashion Revolution

It’s Fashion Revolution day tomorrow, Thursday 24th April. For those of you who haven’t come across the idea before:

Home

To quote, ‘turning fashion into a force for good.’

The shocking figures show 1133 people were killed and over 2500 were injured in the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh a year ago tomorrow. In this world of social and environmental catastrophes, Fashion Revolution looks at ways to help, promote and support. The key message: be curious, find out more, and more importantly do something.

The day challenges you to ask questions about the fashion industry, what you are wearing and you as a consumer. Your clothes tell a story, one which many of us choose to ignore. Through the power of fashion we can reconnect the broken links in the supply chain.

How to get involved… start a revolution and wear your clothes inside-out! Help initiate change for a more sustainable future, and post your support on Instagram by tagging @Fash_Rev and #InsideOut.

On this first anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster our friends at Designer Jumble are organising a day of fashion at Westfield Stratford:

All are welcome to join the event and be a part of the day

Sugar Sweet Spring Summer Tones with Maggie Gyllenhaal

Where Christopher Bailey leads at Burberry Prorsum, naturally, we follow.

Spring/Summer 2014 is all about sugar-sweet pastels: soft pink, lilac, pale blue and and mint-choc-chip green. We spotted one of our style favourites, Maggie Gyllenhaal, in this elegantly-cool shoot on Net a Porter’s THE EDIT and wanted to share it. Just think, for this bank holiday you are right on-trend if you introduce a touch of ice cream tones into your wardrobe, whether you choose skinny jeans, a Chanel-style jacket, ballet pumps or a simple blouse.

The Duchess: Style Watch

Along with the rest of the world we have been closely following the young Royals on their first official visit to New Zealand and Australia, mainly to see what designers style-icon (you can’t deny it) the Duchess of Cambridge is wearing for her back-to-back public appearances. So far, so very good, from her arrival in a red Catherine Walker to emerald Erdem, turquoise tailored Emilia Wickstead with a stunning bespoke Jane Taylor hat, more McQueen in pale blue and for the evening, an elegant embellished Jenny Packham design

There have been no surprises (when the world is watching, why would you experiment?) and Kate has remained loyal to her favourite designers; we are excited to keep up-to-date with Duchess style watch for the next two weeks, so stay tuned…

FTBC 2014 Takes on The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel

Last night Bees & Taylor went to the grand St Pancras Renaissance Hotel to support our friends at Fashion Targets Breast Cancer at a star-studded fundraiser. With celebrity supporters including  Suki Waterhouse who arrived wearing Superga’s Limited Edition Fashion Targets ‘Begonia’ pumps, Millie Mackintosh in a tailored short suit and Eliza Doolittle; the flashbulbs didn’t stop popping.

It was a night of fashion, beauty, prosecco and delicious canapes with fish ‘n’ chips in proper newspaper wraps and chived salmon blinis. The charity ambassadors DJ Deanne Oliver-Edwards (wearing the stunning  bright red jumpsuit below,) model Eunice Olumide, reality star Rosie Fortescue and Bees & Taylor co-founder Antonia O’Brien Ipictured below) worked the room, hosted the raffle and danced to a disco soundtrack from DJ Blonde Ambition and Sophie Lloyd on the deck.

With prizes including donations from Alexander McQueen at Feathers London, Monica Vinader, Blake London knitwear, Penmayne of London, Bees & Taylor Styling Consultancy and Maria Grachvogel; it was a brilliant evening.
